Survey Responses

This was a yes/no survey with the option of adding further comments.

  1. Do you support the right of faith-based schools and organisations to only hire people who share their ethos?
Yes. I support the right of faith-based schools to only hire people who share their ethos. This is fundamental to

the description, 'faith-based school'. That is, those who teach in a faith-based school are educating according to the faith of that facility.

  2. Do you support the push to ban ‘conversion therapy’ (including prayer and faith-based counselling) for people who are struggling with their gender or sexual orientation?
No. Disclaimer: If 'conversion therapy' includes only prayer and faith-based counselling I am happy to endorse it; however if physical punishment or psychological shaming is included in such practice, I do not.

  3. Do you support banning biological males from competing in women’s sport?
Yes. Biological males are naturally physically stronger than females. I therefore firmly support banning biological males from competing in women's sport.

  4. Would you support the formation of a parliamentary committee to ensure the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse are properly implemented?
Yes. A protected, nurturing childhood is essential to whole-of-life mental health and wellbeing. It is the duty of parliament to enact the recommendations of such an important Commission of Inquiry, such as: making institutions child safe; improving institutional response and reporting; advocacy, support and therapeutic treatment services; contemporary out-of-home care recommendations; schools recommendations. Volume 16, Religious institutions recommendations includes: accountability of bishops and former bishops in relation to their response to complaints of child sex abuse; expressed expectations for lay members of the importance of child safety; mandatory standards of professional development, responsibility and boundaries, ethics in ministry; regular performance appraisals; policy relating to management of actual or perceived conflicts of interest that may arise in relation to allegations of child sexual abuse. Oversight of lay people may be appropriate in order to provide transparency in cases of perceived conflicts of interest

  5. Do you support banning late-term abortions (when a baby’s life is viable outside the womb), except where the mother’s life is at risk?
Yes. I also support banning early to mid-term abortions, except where the mother's life is at risk.

  6. Do you support compulsory pre-commitment cards for poker machine users?
Yes. Many people become addicted to the dopamine-rush of poker machine use and cannot otherwise help themselves in limiting their gaming.

  7. Do you support ongoing state funding of Dark Mofo?
    No.

  8. Do you support the decriminalisation of recreational drugs?
    No.
